HBL 2021 Challenge #1
Welcome to Secondary's first HBL Challenge of 2021!
This challenge will bring to life your competitive spirit as you work with a team to complete a variety of tasks, all while having fun and learning a bit more about our community.
To take part in this challenge you should:
Form a team of 3-5 members from your homeroom.
Join a team Google Meet.
Solve as much of the challenge as you can by 3:00pm.
Work as a team and divide out tasks.
Take your time to understand the instructions.
It's ok to collaborate with other teams: maybe you can swap clues that you've solved.
The Chatsworth turtles have gone missing!
We believe they have been turtlenapped and are being kept prisoner in a hidden Google Meet. We need the help of our Secondary students to find and rescue them before they are turned into soup!
The turtlenappers have left some clues to the hidden Google Meet behind in school. We're not allowed back on campus but you can find the clues by visiting our school virtually on Google Maps. Find Chatsworth on Google Maps and drop the yellow stick figure from the bottom right corner onto any of the small blue circles to visit an area of campus.
The hidden Google Meet is at meet.google.com/xxx-xxxx-xxx -- but you need to solve the clues to find what each "x" is (note that all the letters must be in lower case for the Meet link to work). When you rescue the turtles they will give you a secret message. Enter the secret message in the form at the bottom of this page. The first team to rescue the turtles will be declared the Turtle Heroes of HBL 2021!
The first "x" is the fifth letter in the word after “car” on a poster in a room that also contains a skeleton called Bone Jovi.
The second "x" is the first letter of an express supermarket you’ll find in one of the classrooms.
The third "x" comes in the alphabet two letters before the first letter of the animal that is by the Library door.
The fourth "x" is the only letter that appears twice on the red Kindergarten slide.
The fifth "x" is the nth letter of the alphabet, where n is half the number of triangles in each red climbing dome next to Kindergarten.
The sixth "x" is the first letter of the lifesaving device outside the Nurse’s office.
The seventh "x" is the first letter of the names of people who were born on 20th April, 8th September and 6th October.
The eighth "x" is the first letter on the license plate of the grey car that is parked in school.
The ninth "x" is the fourth letter of the country which has its flag between the flags of East Timor and Papua New Guinea.
The tenth "x" is hanging from the ceiling of the Secondary Art room with coloured urns painted on it.
When you have visited the hidden Google Meet and rescued the turtles, make sure you report their secret message below. Even if you don't manage to finish the challenge, you can still use the form to give us feedback.
